DENVER – Montbello advanced to the second round of the 5A state tournament after defeating Mullen 56-46 Wednesday night.

The Warriors (16-7) entered halftime trailing the Mustangs(8-15) 20-19. They took the lead back early in the third quarter on a basket by Malik Hart and never trailed again.

Montbello will play the No. 3 seed, Fort Collins, next on Saturday.
