ROCHESTER — At 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, the Rochester RazorSharks plan to bring a Farmington girl’s dream to life. They’ll enlist the help of fans on game day — Saturday, Feb. 28 — to help her accomplish another.

Courtney Wagner, the 17-year-old Canandaigua Academy senior who has battled stage-four brain cancer for the last three-and-a-half years, will sign a one-day professional basketball contract with the RazorSharks at 3 p.m. in the RazorSharks front office. She will officially become honorary captain and part of the team’s starting lineup for the 1 p.m. tipoff against the Philadelphia Flight on Saturday.

Courtney’s mom, Jamie Wagner, said Courtney is very excited to be on the bench with a professional team. She and the whole family are grateful for such support and believe the Ellen Show will listen, she said.

Because Wagner has always dreamed of meeting talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, the RazorSharks will give free admittance on Saturday to every fan who tweets or posts on Facebook the hashtag #GetCourtneytoEllen. All they need to do is show the box office their phone with the hashtag.

A week ago, on senior night, Courtney started for the Canandaigua's girls basketball team and scored the first bucket.
