Fela Kuti’s artistic and political influence lives on for many, including those involved with Manchester club night Community. It’s marking the universally respected Afrobeat musician and human rights activist’s birthday with a celebration – or Felebration – of his life’s work. A total of seven local acts will be paying tribute, including Irfan Rainy, Simon Tonkinson from Eastern Bloc Records and Adrian Ajo Bhola. Tom and Och from Boogizm will be joining them, plus Martin Brew, Yousef & Tekin and Paddy McSweeney & Luke Myth from Afro Sonido club night. Prepare for an evening of sunshine sounds with resonance. Those wearing the intricate and eye-catching face paint patterns his dancers and vocalists made famous, will get in for free.

Sat 18 Oct, Dry Live, 28-30 Oldham Street, M1 1JN, 11pm, £5 OTD, free for those wearing Fela Kuti style face paint, www.drybar.co.uk
