MLK's Jordan Majors commits to MTSU

MURFREESBORO — The Middle Tennessee State women’s basketball team picked up its fourth commitment for the class of 2015 this week.

Senior Jordan Majors, a forward from M.L. King, committed to coach Rick Insell on Tuesday.

“I’m really excited about it,” the 5-foot-11 Majors said. “I really like that school.

“I feel like they are like a big family and they really care, not just about the sports but the academics, too. That was really important to me.”

Majors said MTSU was the only school to offer her a scholarship, but she said she received interest from Western Carolina, Appalachian State, Belmont, TSU and Florida Atlantic.

She averaged 16.4 points, 12.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game as a junior last season in helping MLK to the Class AA state quarterfinals.

“She’s a leader. … She’s a leader with her hustle,” MLK coach Lindy King said. “She has a great basketball mind. She knows the game better probably than any player I’ve ever coached at MLK. She sees the floor very well, and she likes to be coached. Her knowledge of the game makes her better than the average kid.”

Majors joins Blackman forward Alex Johnson, Knoxville Webb guard Katie Collier and St. Rose High (Belmar, N.J.) guard Jess Louro as players to commit to MTSU for 2015.
