Yolanda survivors call for climate justice on Earth Hour

Supertyphoon Yolanda survivors in barangay Patao, Bantayan and Daanbantayan will join the Earth Hour 2015 tomorrow at 8:30 p.m to 9:30 p.m by turning off their lights.

While Cebu City is set to for a night bike ride around the city where at least 4,000 bikers are expected to participate.

The Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) is advising the public to stay at home as much as possible tomorrow evening.

Several roads in the city may experience traffic congestion as the route of the night bike ride Habagat tomorrow evening will be shared by bikers and motor vehicles.

The ride will start at around 8 p.m. At the IT Park. The route covers Salinas Drive, Gorordo Avenue, Escario Street, Osmeña Boulevard, Fuente to P. Del Rosario, Imus New Road, Gen. Maxilom Avenue, Gorordo Avenue, Cardinal Rosales Avenue to Dela Montaña to Salinas Drive passing by TESDA to Del Mar then back to IT Park.

Climate justice

Meanwhile in Bantayan and Daanbantayan, local children and youth leaders will show their stand against climate change and climate justice.

Julia Gonzales of A2D project said the activities in Bantayan and Daanbantayan towns will be spearheaded by their group, local government units and United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef)

A2D and Unicef have been helping the Yolanda survivors by providing training and capacity building interventions in schools
