The recent turn in warm weather has many farmers inspecting their fields. Many in LaGrange County, Ind., have reported a large amount of suspicious trash to local police.

According to LaGrange County Sheriff Jeff Campos, community service workers found nearly 150 discarded one-pot methamphetamine labs last weekend. Most were found within a two-mile stretch of a county road.

“As you are doing your spring cleaning this year, please be on the lookout for meth-related items,” Campos said.

Meth trash may include bottles of different sizes, some with tubes at the top and some without. Some may contain a powder, crystal or liquid.

If anyone encounters a bottle that appears to be burned or has a substance inside that does not appear to be a beverage, call

local authorities, Campos said.

If a bottle is smoking, stay away from it, because it could explode, Campos said. Notify police immediately, he said.

“Do not pick up the bottle and do not kick it or shake it,” he said.

There also could be meth trash inside of garbage bags.

If you come in contact with bags that are double or triple knotted and you can see bottles inside of them, do not open the bags, Campos said.
