Australian actress Margot Robbie has undeniably had a breakout year, playing Leonardo DiCaprio’s love interest in one of the buzziest movies this awards season. And as if we needed one more reason to love the Wolf of Wall Street star, she’s recently revealed herself to be a diehard lover of hockey.

How did a girl from the Outback fall in love with a sport played on frozen water? Robbie, 23, explains to Film.com:

Well I always wanted to play ice hockey back in Australia, I’m not sure why, but we didn’t have any ice where I lived. It was very hot, a coastal town. So I played field hockey, but then when I moved to America I was finally able to join a team once I wasn’t contracted to a show, but when I was contracted to a show I wasn’t able to play. But I was living in New York, so I was able to watch, and the Rangers were my default team…And not just by default, but also because they’re the best team ever.

Wait…join a team?

I play on a team but I’m definitely the worst on the team. I’m not so good at the ice skating part. The hockey is good, but the ice skating I need to work on.

Yes, Robbie’s love of hockey extends far beyond casual fandom. (According to a recent New York Magazine interview, she plays right wing.) Unfortunately, there’s no word on where her team plays. Robbie’s beer league games could be the one ticket in town hotter than Wolf of Wall Street.

Interestingly, though Robbie is an unabashed Rangers fan — Lundqvist is the player she’s “become particularly attached to” — Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in Wolf (Jordan Belfort) is a Long Island native and Islanders fan. Asked if this helped her to hate his character (they have a volatile relationship in the film, to say the least), Robbie reveals that she didn’t even know:

I had no idea that he was an Islanders fan. This is news to me. Oh my gosh. Are you serious?…Had I known this, our fight scenes would have been exponentially more violent than they were! This is huge. I can’t believe that no one mentioned this to me…Yeah, maybe it’s a good thing I didn’t know that, maybe we would have taken things too far. [Pause] Wow.
