Bohol is the alluring island in the Philippines that is blessed with its numerous Chocolate Hills formation, inhabited by several species like tarsier, immaculate beaches, their rich culture and heritage, among others. It was my first time to step on this island and I was really looking forward to the relaxing pleasures that only provinces could offer.

Our first stop was the newest attraction in Bohol – Chocolate Hills Adventure Park, where the famous Bike Zip is available. Readily after going to and from CHAP, we were all looking forward to be pampered because after all, Bohol offers beautiful resorts where you could comfortably stay after a long exhausting day of travel. True to our expectation, we were welcomed with the warm smile from the staff, cold towels and lemongrass drinks, my newest favorite, that made us feel immediately at home.

Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort offers a Filipino and contemporary architecture of a luxurious escape. It also recognizes the natural beauty and culture of Bohol, emanating their inherent warm hospitality and eco-focused alternatives. They have a total of 54 rooms (23 Deluxe Poolside, 23 Deluxe Poolview, 4 Family Lofts, 3 Honeymoon Villas, and 1 Family Villa). Ours was a Deluxe Poolside which has twin occupancy, includes breakfast, seaport or airport transfers, complimentary limited use of non-motorized sports facilities, entertainment set, toiletries and many more.

They have two beautiful pools, one of which and the bigger is the view from our room, a free-form shaped swimming pool. It has the Baroto Pool Bar at the end where you can order some cocktails and drinks while lounging at the chairs in the middle of their pool. A perfect relaxation experience. The other pool beside their restaurant, Aplaya Restaurant, where I witnessed an event during our stay and I thought to myself how perfect it would be to plan a romantic wedding there.

The Aplaya Restaurant where breakfast buffets are offered also caters their unique tradition known as “Barrio Fiesta,” a cultural and dining extravaganza. The festive experience includes feasting on some Boholano specialties like “Lechon Kawali” while enjoying some popular Philippine cultural dance show like “Tinikling.” This dinner buffet special is held on Saturdays from 6 to 10 pm. Walk ins for this buffet is priced at Php 900 per person.

The five-hectare area of the resort is found in the island of Panglao where white-sand beaches, pristine waters and marine sanctuaries are popularly known. Which is why you a numerous choices of recreation activities during your stay such as diving, snorkeling, glass bottom boat cruising, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, cataraman ride, island hopping and windsurfing. In our short stay, we opted for kayaking which was challenging than usual due noon-time bigger waves. You can also arrange to tour the island and see the grand Chocolate Hills formations, tarsiers, dolphin and whale watching, Loboc River cruise, firefly watching and other eco-adventure tours.

If you are looking for serenity and relaxation, they have the Amuma Spa Service of various choices: hilot lamang, hilot ablon, hingut-an, pikpik kawayan sa siki. Hilot is the Visayan term of massage.

More to its luxurious sophistication during my stay, what I could not forget was how accommodating their staff is especially Sir Leo Go who never left our side and provided our needs, from the airport transfers, warm welcome, several girly needs of mine, and their coordination with Island City Mall’s Jollibee when I realized that I actually lost my wallet. I am more than grateful because they helped me so much and their service is one of a kind. I experienced first-hand the Bol-anon’s honest and grounded qualities.
