Hotels are constantly adding new bells and whistles to get a leg up on the competition—think access to fancy guitars and complementary museum passes. Now, many venues are starting to keep their cycling guests happy with premium-ride loaners.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants

Boutique chain Kimpton has partnered with San Francisco–based bike designer Public on a fleet of customized three-speed street cruisers. The Kimpton-branded bikes ride and look great, with playful cherry-red frames, cream tires, and a rear basket perfect for toting picnic supplies. I recently signed out a Public from Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar–Chicago and took it for a nice little spin down the Riverwalk. Don’t forget to check for bike-specific promotions at each Kimpton hotel—the Urban Wine Trail package, for example, places guests at Santa Barbara’s Canary Hotel on a self-guided tour of local tasting rooms.

Ace Hotels

Guests at Ace’s Portland, Oregon, outpost get free access to its inventory of street cruisers. For a fee, you can rent a gorgeous piece hand-built by PDX custom-cycle legend Jordan Hufnagel. At the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs, you can borrow a tandem and double the fun.

Hoxton Hotel, London

This hip East End spot teamed with London-based Mango cycles on a set of four bespoke rides modeled after the no-frills fixies piloted by area bike messengers. The East End is enjoying a renaissance these days: packed with great restaurants and galleries, it offers more reasons than ever to hop on one of these beauties and explore the scene.

Twin Farms, Vermont

This high-end resort is nestled among the rolling hills of central Vermont. Take a road ride on Twin Farms’s fleet of Trek cruisers—or get dirty on a Gary Fisher mountain bike. Great trails abound nearby for riders of all levels, while the resort has a top-of-the-line spa where you can treat yourself to a well-deserved massage at day’s end.

Element Vaughan Southwest, Ontario

Located 20 miles outside Toronto, this upscale, extended-stay property gives guests the option of biking to the big city on one of its track-style rides, which were designed and built by Strada Customs in New York City. If you’re feeling a little less ambitious, you can cruise around Vaughan, home to Canada’s largest amusement park as well as its soccer hall of fame.
