Hawkeyes pick up legacy commitment

The name and face of Iowa's latest commitment is familiar.
You rememember Riley Reiff, an all-Big Ten offensive lineman in 2011 for the Hawkeyes and a first-round draft pick of the Detroit Lions in 2012. Iowa found Reiff despite the fact that he was tucked away in Parkston, S.D., where there are more coyotes than football recruits.
The Hawkeyes kept that line open and Thursday, Brady Reiff, Riley's brother, committed to Iowa, according to HawkeyeReport.com.
Brady Reiff is a 6-4, 215-pound defensive end at Parkston High School. He also had offers from South Dakota State and Wyoming. Nebraska and Michigan State also showed interest.
For Parkston last season, Reiff played all over the field and helped the team to a 10-2 record and an appearance in the state championship game. Reiff played linebacker, defensive end, tight end and fullback. He finished the year with 70 tackles, nine sacks, 218 receiving yards and 298 rushing yards.
'I talked it over a lot with my family and my brother,” Brady Reiff told HawkeyeReport.com. 'Really, he was pretty open about it. He just said go with what you want and that's what I did.”
Reiff also is a two-time state champion in wrestling, winning titles in the 220-pound weight class the last two winters. He'll begin his career at Iowa as a defensive end, but when the Hawkeyes offered in January, the position was up in the air.
'Iowa didn't really specific a position,” Reiff said. 'They just kind of said it's going to be fun to see you progress over the years and we'll see where things end up with you.
'For me, it's not really a big deal. Just getting an opportunity to play in college and getting a scholarship, that's a great deal, so as long as I can help the team and be part of something special like that, I'll do whatever it takes.”
Reiff is the eight commitment for the Hawkeyes' 2015 recruiting class. Defensive line coach Reese Morgan, who recruits the plains and Iowa for Iowa's staff, is listed as the lead recruiter. Reiff is rated a two-star recruit by Rivals.
The Reiff brothers look alike. Riley is the bigger of the two (6-6, 300 when he was at Iowa), but Brady is faster.
'There are some similarities and there are some differences,” Parkston head coach Eric Norden told HuskerOnline.com. 'Both of them are probably good things. (Brady) is a little bit smaller than (Riley), but faster. It's tough to compare. To be honest, I don't compare them.
'They are two different people and they work completely differently. They play some of the same positions, but they work at them differently. They are both just great football players.”
