Schoolboys thrilled by session with maestro

A private coaching session with Ronan O'Gara was one of the auction items on offer at the recent Brian O'Driscoll testimonial dinner held in London.

The session took place at Musgrave Park last week and I am reliably informed that, quite apart from meeting their hero, the boys representing Glenstal Abbey and the housemaster overseeing it were blown away by the quality of the experience.

The Munster maestro was totally unselfish with his time, giving the awe- struck boys all his carefully established wisdom on the tricks of the trade.

Clearly a sign of things to come, albeit on the other side of the English Channel as one of the great servants of Irish rugby takes his first, slightly convoluted step to a coaching career.

I wish him well.
