Robert A. Schuller, former senior pastor at the Crystal Cathedral and son of the megachurch’s founder, has been nominated for the $100,000 Epiphany Award for his show “Everyday Life.

Epiphany awards are presented by MOVIEGUIDE to encourage filmmakers and television producers to “create movies and television shows that help increase man’s understanding and love of God,” according to the group’s Web site.

Schuller left the Crystal Cathedral and the church’s “Hour of Power” television show in the middle of a family feud that involved him, his father, Robert H. Schuller, his sisters and their respective spouses. Late last year, the older Schuller named his daughter, Sheila Schuller Colemen, the leader of his megachurch.

Robert A. Schuller joined hands with his son-in-law, Chris Wyatt, to head Dallas-based American Life Network.

“Everyday Life” premiered the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Schuller called his television show “a story of redemption.” The show is scripted with actors and with Schuller as the narrator. Both Schuller and Wyatt said they believe it is an example of a television program that can show rather than tell people how to get closer to God without preaching from the pulpit.

The winners will be announced the evening of Feb. 23 at The Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
