After criticism from pro-life groups after it endorsed pro-abortion Virginia Senate candidate Tim Kaine, Democrats for Life of America has revoked the endorsement.
DFLA had endorsed former Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, who is running against George Allen for a seat in the U.S. Senate. With a Republican Senate necessary to move the pro-life legislative agenda in Congress, to approve another pro-life-friendly judge for the Supreme Court and to overturn Obamacare, pro-life groups are working to ensure  GOP majority.

Kaine says on his own web site that he doesn’t want to put any limits on the Roe v. Wade decision that allowed virtually unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy for any reason and has resulted in 55 million abortions.

“I strongly support the right of women to make their own health and reproductive decisions and, for that reason, will oppose efforts to weaken or subvert the basic holding of Roe v. Wade,” Kaine says, adding that he doesn’t support “criminalizing women’s reproductive decisions.”

Now, Democrats for Life of America has removed pro-abortion Tim Kaine (D-VA) from its list of pro-life Democrats running for the Senate after the pro-life group Secular Pro-Life first raised a stink about it. The organization also noticed the withdrawal of the endorsement.

DFLA issued a statement about its decision:

Former DNC Chairman and Governor Tim Kaine has been a friend to DFLA and has previously defined himself as a pro-life Democrat.  While Governor, Kaine signed the Choose Life license plate bill into law.  We were proud to work with the Governor to ensure the bill was passed and critical funds could be used to support crisis pregnancy centers.  He also signed into law the Pregnant Women Support Act to help women in crisis pregnancy and opposes federal funding of abortion.  While Chair of the DNC, he supported pro-life Democrats and his policies helped elect pro-life elected officials.  His spokesman and website are now identifying him as a pro-choice Democrat.  DFLA, therefore, cannot endorse Governor Kaine.  However, should he be elected to the Senate, we look forward to the opportunity to work with him to pass pro-life legislation.

The organization now endorses three Senate candidates: Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, and Joe Donnelly of Indiana — even though pro-life advocates are not supportive of any of the three of them due to their weak voting records on pro-life issues.
