Battered Obama Supporter Syndrome — The Phone Records Grabber Episode

Battered Obama Supporter Syndrome — The Phone Records Grabber Episode

You know the story.

The government is grabbing all your phone records.  In a previously secret order obtained by Obama:

The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America’s largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April.

The order, a copy of which has been obtained by the Guardian, requires Verizon on an “ongoing, daily basis” to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the US and between the US and other countries.

The document shows for the first time that under the Obama administration the communication records of millions of US citizens are being collected indiscriminately and in bulk – regardless of whether they are suspected of any wrongdoing.

The secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (Fisa) granted the order to the FBI on April 25, giving the government unlimited authority to obtain the data for a specified three-month period ending on July 19.

Under the terms of the blanket order, the numbers of both parties on a call are handed over, as is location data, call duration, unique identifiers, and the time and duration of all calls. The contents of the conversation itself are not covered.

This presents a dilemma for Obamaphiles.

You will hear the excuse that Bush did it. From people who hated Bush for doing it, but still love Obama.

Well… There’s still them thar’ toss-a-way no contract phones but be sure to pay cash when you buy!

It won’t stop ’em from snoopin’ but it’ll make it a little more difficult..

Good thing Obama is POTUS. Bush/McCain/Romney would have done bad things with all that information.

Google, Apple, now Verizon, and who next? One day we’ll see what Bill Gates collects from all his Windows boxes.

Prof. Bill’s a goner, anyhow, because he’s stuck his face out like a lightening rod. It’s the folks who didn’t consent that are getting taken.

The only answer, and one to which “We the People” have every right to, is transparency on ALL gov’t operations. In other words, every unclassified communication of gov’t officials on the job must be published, redacting the names of private individuals and entities. It must be a positive law, not an act of “good will” or disclosure requiring a FOIA request.

My first thought was “Another reason to be glad I’m not with Verizon anymore”. My seconds was, “Are we sure it’s just Verizon?”

Why would they only be collecting info from one cell company, and not the others?

I have some problems with this report that indicate to me that it might not be true.

If this were true, it would be the FBI, not NSA obtaining these records. It is against the law for NSA to target US citizens, period. There is no warrant that I am aware of that can allow this. The only thing NSA could be involved in would be if it is investigating communications with an entity outside of the country. NSA is forbidden from targeting communications between people legally residing inside the US.

Targeting of communications between people inside the US is the jurisdiction of FBI. The last time NSA was used against US citizens engaged in purely domestic communications was against anti-war activists in the Viet Nam era and it got people in a lot of trouble.

According to the order posted with the Guardian’s article, it was the FBI who asked for it, and the NSA who the records are turned over to.

The Democratic Party has turned the departments and agencies of the government into arms of the party.

Imagine this scenario: IRS gets donor information from various groups. FBI then orders phone records of those donors. One of them is crossing the US border and they have a “hunch” that they need to “inspect” that person’s computer. Find out they are involved in a new project that will do potential harm to a major Democratic Party donors business.

Bottom line is that what we have seen out of EPA and IRS, we can no longer trust any government agency staffed by Democrats with out confidential personal information.

We cannot trust any agency or department because Obama and his cronies have had time to hire and promote every radical Left- winger and communist they know and have salted every Department with people who will do whatever is asked of them and then some. We need to clean house by reorganizing every agency of government but Obama needs to go first.

[…] it takes a British paper and conservative blogs to report on this. The alarming discovery seems to reveal the scale of domestic surveillance under the Obama administration. Of course, this may just be the tip of the iceberg as it only […]

No dilemma at all. These people are not much for conscience or reflection.

As for Obama, he understands the mentality of his vassals perfectly. They will NEVER leave him. And the more power he ruthlessly and audaciously accrues, the greater their fealty. This crisis is not going to self-mediate, as Obama is twisting the very mechanisms for its democratic mediation out of shape and function. There is no simple or good to his depredations.

Bush did it? Obama has managed to take every worst aspect of Bush and raise it to the nth degree, and with an evil agenda to undermine America besides. Bush, at least, was raised in the U.S. and is a patriot.

And people called me crazy for not having a cell phone. I could laugh at all the Obama phone supporters. “Oh btw, you get free call screening with that phone too. Courtesy of the NSA.”

ROFL

I could laugh, but I am instead saddened by my country’s “leadership”

If you will indulge my French, Professor, I think that those shyte turds in the White House have done irreparable harm to the functioning of our government. It may be time for Jefferson’s admonition,

“I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. Unsuccessful rebellions, indeed, generally establish the encroachments on the rights of the people which have produced them. An observation of this truth should render honest republican governors so mild in their punishment of rebellions as not to discourage them too much. It is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government. ” (republican in form of government, not party btw)

Can I sue over this? As a Verizon customer?

I can place $3000 down immeadiately as retainer if so.

Interesting, innit, that we learn about this from a foreign paper?

And on the “Bush did it” BS…

Let’s get real. Bush DID NOT EVER do this.

Okay, question: there is a commenter over at The Right Scoop saying this is a SCAM, that the judge who supposedly signed off on this supposed court order is the same judge who ruled ObamaCare unconstitutional. (Link to article here; link to user here.)

Truth…..or troll?

NSA is building a top secret MASSIVE data center in Utah. Nobody knows what it’s purpose is. I’ve seen stories about it off and on over the past couple of years, but FOX included a segment about it in a recent special. Listen to the National Director of the NSA lie that they do not collect data on U.S. citizens at about the 7:50 mark.
