THE Cebu provincial government has turned over a new 520-meter coastal road to the Cordova municipal government.

The P8-million new road links Sitio Camolinas in Barangay Poblacion to Barangay Alegria, the Capitol said in a statement.

Construction was  jointly funded by the Capitol and the municipal government of Cordova, which contributed P4 million each.

Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said the new road will further spur the economic development of Cordova.

“Di na gyud ma pugngan ang kalambuan sa Cordova (Nothing can stop Cordova’s progress),” Magpale was quoted in the statement as saying.

Fisherfolk led by Pedro Eredera witnessed the turnover ceremony last Thursday.

Cebu provincial information officer Ethel Natera said the new road enables fishermen to bring their catch from one sitio to another.

She added that an extension project linking the coastal freeway to Barangay Gabi is also under way.
