Just one day before her reported appearance during the halftime show at Super Bowl 50, Beyoncé dropped a surprise new song, “Formation,” on the music streaming service Tidal.
The song is expected to be the first track on her next album.
According to Rolling Stone, Beyoncé was rehearsing “Formation” during the halftime show preparations for the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
Though she hasn’t confirmed to perform at the Super Bowl, Bey has long been rumored to be a guest.
She performs background vocals on the single by halftime-show headliners Coldplay, “Hymn for the Weekend,” and appears in the new Bollywood-infused video for the song.
Tidal, the artist-owned music streaming service, is currently offering the audio version of “Formation” for streaming and downloading for free.
