LAPU-LAPU City Hall received an early Valentine’s Day treat from 110 students of the city’s high schools who regaled the officials and employees with a flash mob dance last Friday afternoon.

The performance started with a staged confrontation between a teenage boy and a teenage girl that attracted the attention of passersby and a security guard who tried to mediate between them.

Then dance music blared out of a loud speaker and the two danced together and were joined by other youths, drawing laughter from the guard and the crowd that gathered at the lobby.

More youth dancers joined in and the dancers were seen wearing red Happy Valentine’s Day shirts.

One of the dancers went to Mayor Paz Radaza’s office and invited her to join the dance which she obliged.

She was later given a stuffed toy monkey by one of the dancers in commemoration of the Year of the Monkey.

Frances Nicole Balao, a staffer of the Lapu-Lapu City Tourism Office who organized the flash mob dance performance said they held the performance on a Friday “so we can attract more people.”

She said this is one of several activities the Lapu-Lapu City government is holding to commemorate the occasion.
