The longest election campaign in more than a century has drawn to a close and we have a new MP to represent us in Ottawa. I wish Carla Qualtrough the best as she takes on enormous responsibility and challenges.

Before all that happens, I wish to thank Kerry-Lynne Findlay for her service over the past fourplus years. In the 33 years I have lived in Delta, I must say it's a long time since I have experienced an MP who was so involved in our community.

Her predecessor was rarely seen at any event locally. Not only that, she had two distinct communities to look after and get to know - South Delta and Steveston/Richmond East. South Delta gained many enhancements thanks to her advocacy on our part.

Findlay has demonstrated her intelligence and commitment over the past term as our MP. She left behind a successful law practice to enter politics, was recognized for her capabilities and given huge responsibilities in our government. I believe the future is bright for Findlay, and that it won't be long before she'll be choosing which exciting new job responsibility to dive into. One door closes and new ones open.

Kerry-Lynne Findlay, you have my respect and admiration. Thank you so much for being our representative for the past term. I expect to hear great things about you in the future, and I look forward to helping you in any way I can.
