Slide Notes

I’ve used the term Technically Invisible for the last 7 years because I believe technology is not designed to be the focus in the classroom. The spotlight should shine on the learning which is going on, and technology is a fabulous way to do just that.

It is the role of the teacher to bring technology to life for students.

Technically Invisible

Creative to the Core

Hands UP!

So hands up if you've attended one of my sessions here before. How many of you have never? So, I planned this session for ALL of you. While there's some predictability in that I am offering a selection of ideas - I am serving up that variety in a different format - kind of like the difference between a sit-down meal where everything is delivered to you instead of a buffet, where you get up and choose your options.

Plus your Practice

#Shoutout to Walt Disney!
Like the Jungle Cruise, I try each year to make my presentation here a little different, but yet somewhat predictable for those who choose to attend. I also try very hard to break out of my comfort zone and try new ideas with a “live studio audience”.

Now that I have left the classroom, I seriously have been panicked about this presentation. What would I do? What would I share? I really considered cancelling.

What I’ve decided, is that today, I'M going to be technically invisible! I’ve instead created an interactive experience for all of you to hopefully stretch your planning when you are back in your roles.

Can We

auto-correct humanity?
One thing I have learned (and blogged about) is how technology seems to be just as adept at disconnecting us as it is at connecting us. Taking a look around any recent conference confirms that disconnecting via technology is an easy thing to do.

I'm guilty of it myself.

Here is a fa video to make us think about how we are using technology to connect... or disconnect..

Let's Play SCOOT!

This is not a presentation, it is a participation.

It's not about me - it's about you.

As teachers, it's not about us, it's about our students.

Students of all ages enjoy playing SCOOT. If you've never played - here's an article that describes it.
