Museveni raps Donald Trump

As various people ushered in the New Year, a political joke punctuated with heavy statements attributed to the U.S Republican party front-runner Donald Trump were making rounds on social media.

The story which has since rocked social media platforms carried comments attributed to Trump was first published by an online news agency—The Spectator—under the headline, "I will lock Mugabe and Museveni in prison if I become President—Donald Trump vows."

"I want to reiterate here before America's greatest heroes that I will not condone any dictatorial tendencies exhibited by dictators around the world especially the two old men from Zimbabwe and Uganda."

Mugabe and Museveni must be put on notice that their days are numbered and that I am going to arrest them and lock them in prison. If the past American administrations have failed to stop these two despots, I will personally do it," Trump is quoted to have told American war veterans.

Robert Mugabe is the President of Zimbabwe, while the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, is the presidential candidate of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the forthcoming elections.

Yet for journalists who attended today's press briefing by Museveni at Kabale State Lodge, the issue of Trump's threats to arrest Museveni and Mugabe had to take center stage.

Completely oblivious of Trump's commentary, Museveni said: "I have not heard about trump and what trump says is none of my business. I think Mr. Trump has got enough work to do in US. People are dying, being killed by guns. Maybe I could give him some advice on how to have peace in the USA.

I didn't even know what Trump says. He has no credentials to talk about Uganda. He has no authority. He has got enough work to do in the US. In case you are in touch with him, tell him that."
