For many years, Doctor Who was my favorite show – my must see TV. The Classic Era as well as the reboot series. I loved it for a host of reasons, but admittedly, the show lost its appeal towards the end of Matt Smith’s tenure, and I only watched two episodes of Peter Capaldi’s inaugural season (unfortunately, one of those episodes was the idiotic, moronic, incredibly stupid one about the trees. Worst.Episode.Ever.).
Tonight is the premiere of Season 9 on BBC America, and I’m going to DVR it and give the series another chance. A regeneration of sorts. I have my fingers crossed. I have no clue if Capaldi’s Doctor is good or bad, exciting or bland. I’m trying to keep an open mind about it.
To help get y’all in the mood, I thought it would be helpful to post a Doctor Who Monster Primer. If there’s one thing the reboot series has done well, it’s paid honorable tribute to the aliens and monsters of the past, while creating some memorable new villains to plague and vex the Doctor and his companions. Blink, anyone?
In no particular order, here are a few of the reboot series monsters:

I would be remiss if I didn’t include two of The Doctor’s most iconic enemies:
