A cooking incident has been ruled as the cause of a fire at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort.
The call came in shortly before noon Wednesday. Officials with the Nashville Fire Department said the incident was a two-alarm fire.
At the peak of the fire, heavy smoke could be seen near the atrium of the hotel.
As of 1 p.m. officials said the fire appeared to be out and added that no injuries had been reported.
According to investigators, the fire originated from a stovetop at the Old Hickory Steakhouse. A chef noticed the blaze and took action.
Although the call initially came in as a 1-alarm fire, heavy smoke prompted an additional response. Smoke apparently reached the vent system and quickly spread to the roof.
Guests at the hotel have been evacuated while firefighters continue surveying the area. One firefighter was overcome by heat during the incident.
Officials said they're still surveying the damage to the restaurant. It's unclear when it would reopen.
Assistant Fire Chief Walter Demonbreun said while there was heavy smoke, water damage was minimal.
