LTFRB sets taxi calibration schedules

At least 137 taxi units, of the 6,000 that are operating in Cebu have calibrated their meters since February 19 said the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-7).

Ahmed Cuizon, LTFRB-7 director, said that the calibration of taxi meters started on February 19, at the South Road Properties (SRP) near the Sugbu Building in Cebu City.

According to Cuzion, plate numbers ending with 2 and 7 were the first calibrated by the LTFRB from Feb. 19 to March 12. Those with numbers ending in 3 and 8 are scheduled this March 19-April 2. Plate Numbers ending in 4 and 9 are scheduled this April 3 to 23, while those ending in 5 and 0 are on April 24 to May 14. Plate numbers ending in 1 and 6 are on May 15 to June 4.

Taxi operator who fails to calibrate on the scheduled date will be meted with a P200 fine for every delay said Cuizon.

After the calibration, taxis can now start collecting the flag down rate of P40, while an additional P13.50 for every succeeding kilometer and a P2 is added for every two minutes waiting time in traffic.
