Lee Arthur Smith
St Clair Shores - September 20, 1920 - February 14, 2018
Lee Smith, age 97, beloved husband of Patricia for 64 years. Loving father of Randy and Wick(Mary) Smith. Beloved granddad to 4 grandchildren, Lauren, Kathryn, Scott and Andrew Smith. Lee is an Army Veteran, worked for U.S. ATAC as a supervising Mechanical Engineer for 28 years. He loved sailboat racing and cruising for over 7 decades. You could find Lee racing and cruising the Greats Lake during the summer or chartering boat in the Caribbean in the Winter. For over 60 years, he actively sailed both the Chicago and Port Huron Mackinac races winning over 13 times. He is one of the first sailors to achieve a Grand Ram status for racing over 50 Port Huron to Mackinac races. He was recognized, in 2013, as the most senior competitor in the Port Huron to Mackinac race at 91 years of age. He was active in the local sailing community and served as IOR and CCA measurer, sailing Cat boats, Flying Scotts, his Bounty and later an Islander 36, and Yacht Club measurer of Detroit Yacht Club.
He will always be loved and appreciated for teaching his family and friends, by his example, the value of hard work, good judgment, courage, integrity, caring and helpfulness.
A gathering of friends and family will be scheduled at a future date.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Lee's family, sorry for your loss. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us that God is thinking thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope, may that bring you comfort in this time of sorrow.
