The food pantry is in need of canned fruit, canned meat products, pasta and sauces, canned vegetables, as well as rice and dried beans.

Food drive chairman Charles Hahn said during this time of year the food pantry also likes to include cake mixes and canned frosting and packaged cookies, especially for clients with children.

The food drive project is part of a nationwide Knights of Columbus program called the Food for Families initiative to provide food for families in need.

The local food drive is a joint venture between the Knights of Columbus and St. Aloysius, which regularly collects food for the pantry.

The Knights of Columbus assisted by St. Aloysius students participated in food drives to help the pantry in Oct. 2016 and again in January. Each collected 1,600 pounds of food and raised $800 in donations for the food pantry.
