Kian's girlfriend, classmates, teachers in grief, outrage over his death

In deep grief, the people closest to Grade 11 student Kian Loyd delos Santos are calling for justice following the 17-year-old's bloody death at the hands of police.

His girlfriend Criszza Mae Collado could not hide her pain during his wake.

"Daya mo eh. Sabi mo tutuparin natin mga gusto natin. Magtatapos pa tayo 'di ba?" Criszza said in a report by Saleema Refran on "24 Oras" on Friday.

She begged those involved in Delos Santos' death to admit to the crime.

"Umamin na po kayo, tao naman po si Kian. Hindi naman po siya hayop eh. Ginawa niyo po siyang hayop eh sa ginawa niyo eh. 'Pag nangyari po sa inyo ano pakiramdam, masasaktan din po kayo diba," she said.

Delos Santos was killed Wednesday night during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Barangay 160 in Caloocan City.

Police claimed that Delos Santos resisted, forcing them to fire shots at him.

His family, however, belied the police's statements, saying that he was a good son.

Police say they recovered a caliber .45 pistol and two sachets of suspected shabu from the victim. His relatives have denied that the items belong to him.

One of Kian's classmates, Jun, said his friend did not deserve that kind of treatment.

"Hustisya po para kay Kian. Ang pangit po ng ginawa sa kanya eh. Baboy na baboy po eh. Parang hayop lang po na pinatay doon sa gilid eh," Jun said in a 24 Oras report by Dano Tingcungco on Friday.

Jun also expressed regret that his friend will no longer fulfill his dream to enter the police force.

Meanwhile, the teachers of Delos Santos at Our Lady of Lourdes College also supported his family's claims that he has never been involved in any illegal activities.

"Wala po sa mukha niya, sa ugali niya, Sir. Kasi kapag nakita niyo po 'yang bata na 'yan Sir, hindi niyo masasabing adik to, pusher to. Isa lamang siyang simpleng mag-aaral na gustong makapagtapos," Rose Vie said.

Delos Santos, in fact, had never been called to the principal's office for any kind of violation.

"We were so shocked upon hearing the incident. It was during the second day of examination when we were able to read news. 'Yun nga we did not even expect that he would be included," said Michael Figueroa, principal of the school.

"As far as his behavior is concerned, we have not seen any observations that would tell us that he is really using drugs," Figueroa added. —Anna Felicia Bajo/JST, GMA News
