Looking for a lazy day on the river but can't quite make it there.

No problem.

The PA Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau now offers a new live streaming web camera overlooking the Allegheny River in Foxburg.

The camera can catch a gentle ripple in the water or the rustle of one of the trees lining the Allegheny. The cam will operate around-the-clock for at least a year.

It is the second live webcam featuring an iconic state river installed by the Outdoors Visitors Bureau to promote travel destinations such as Foxburg. The first camera, installed earlier this year, is trained on a section of the Clarion River in Cook Forest.

"The cams are another way to reach out to potential visitors in the age of video and social media," said John Straitiff, executive director of PA Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau.

It was an easy decision to install the cameras given the popularity of the eagle cams in Pittsburgh and York County as well as other wildlife cams, he said.

"People using these cams runs the gamut from those just wanting to know what the river looks like on any day to those planning a canoe trip," he said.

The bureau plans to install more outdoor webcams next year.
