PHILADELHPIA, Pa. -- A huge reception from the crowd for Senator Bernie Sanders as he spoke before the Democratic National Convention.
Monday’s theme was about unity among Democrats, and Sanders' support was a big part of that.
But many parts of the day were very pretty contentious with pro-Bernie and anti-establishment protests and chants.
The scene was set for a pretty interesting day after leaked DNC emails exposed some party leaders were working to undermine Sanders in favor of Hillary Clinton's campaign, which fed his message of a rigged system.
In Monday’s speech, Sanders continued his message from the campaign trail of what he calls a political revolution to transform the country and economy, and he says the revolution continues.
Sanders told the crowd he is disappointed, but was definitive in showing his full support for Clinton.
"Any objective observer will conclude that — based on her ideas and her leadership — Hillary Clinton must become the next president of the United States," Sanders declared in his headlining address. “I am happy to tell you that at the Democratic Platform Committee there was a significant coming together between the two campaigns and we produced, by far, the most progressive platform in the history of the Democratic Party."
One of Sanders' Denver Supporters says he believes the party will come together.
“Do we think we still have work to do to persuade Bernie Sanders supporters to vote for Hillary Clinton? I think the answer is yes, but I think we’re more than happy to do that work,” said Ian Silverii.
Sanders also made a point to thank all the delegates supporting him at the convention and told them he looks forward getting those votes during the roll call Tuesday.
