Barangay officials pledge cooperation in anti-drugs campaign

July 25,2016 - 12:45 PM

Despite Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena’s decision to withdraw his support from the police’s campaign against illegal drugs, 40 barangay officials of Cebu City gathered and signed a covenant with the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) on Monday morning.

Councilor and Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president Philip Zafra led the barangay captains in the signing ceremony which pledged their cooperation to police campaigns against illegal drugs.

PRO 7 Regional Director Chief Supt. Noli Taliño and newly installed Cebu City Police Office chief Senior Supt. Joel Doria were present during the said ceremony.

Zafra said they will meet with the barangays who signed the covenant to plan out specific activities that will help drive out illegal drugs in their communities.

“There are no specific activities yet but this is a first step,” he said./UP Cebu Intern Morexette Erram
