Cebu City disaster response ready for tropical depression ‘Carina’

With the onset of rains brought about by the tropical depression, Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CCDRRMC) head Nagiel Banacia said they are now on standby and will raise alert status once they get advice from the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astonomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Banacia said they have been closely monitoring four rivers in Cebu City, namely, Mahiga, Guadalupe, Lahug and Kinalumsan since Friday morning.

He said these major rivers usually overflow during a heavy down pour.

In the barangay levels, they are also monitoring Barangay Mabolo which has several flood-prone areas.

A Quick Response Team is also now in place, closely monitoring the mountain barangays.

As of noon time, there were no reports of flooding or landslides incident in the city caused by the heavy down pour on Friday morning.
