They know; you want it tomorrow, right?

Richard “Chip” Anderson and his wife, Bridgette Anderson, have performed near miracles before, so the request doesn’t really faze them anymore. When customers want something printed – a brochure, a sign, a book or stationery – patience doesn’t usually attend the order. Now that Powder Horn Press at 301 Court St. has doubled its capacity with a four-color Heidelberg printer, the Andersons are more prepared than ever for those impossible orders.

Yes, after 40 years in business, Powder Horn Press has expanded.

The massive printer is actually the centerpiece of Powder Horn Press’s 40th anniversary. This is one family business that has endured in Plymouth through economic highs and lows without flinching. The key to their longevity has a lot to do with staying on top of the latest developments in the printing industry and being flexible enough to embrace them. The Andersons have also forged a reputation as reliable as the sunrise and as a generous company forever raising funds for local youth groups, organizations and charities.

“We also have a great staff,” Bridgette Anderson said. “Everyone has been here 10 years or more. They’re real professionals.”

Their story began with two other Andersons, Chip’s parents, who began the business in 1975. Chip and Bridgette both grew up in Scituate and graduated from Scituate High School. Chip went on to complete his undergraduate degree in economics at Northeastern University, and the couple married and took over the family business in time. The family includes the Anderson’s daughters Pamela Anderson and Erica Anderson Clark and her husband Justin Clark and their child Allie.

“The secret to my success is my wife,” Chip said. “She’s really nice. She always takes the high road. She’s a stabilizing influence.”

Powder Horn Press provides a number of services like printing, design, copying, wide format, posters, signs and bindery needs.

The company’s on-site equipment gives them an advantage over other printing businesses, and Powder Horn can boast that it handles almost any job with short turnaround times.

Powder Horn also has its own design team that helps customers craft everything from eye-catching business cards to nation-wide printing and advertising campaigns. Powder Horn designs have been featured in national magazines and newspapers as well as billboards, bus signs and even on the big screen in Times Square. The company has also partnered with a local Web design studio to offer the best in interactive design.

Powder Horn is often called upon to put together and print brochures and pamphlets the company designs.

“We do template print designs and signs – any type of marketing materials,” Bridgette explained.

Chip is a member of the Plymouth Lions Club, a local fundraising giant, and said he and his wife are dedicated to continue giving back.

“We give to organizations,” she said. “That’s our marketing campaign. We donate to whatever is a good cause.”

Powder Horn Press is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information or to place an order visit powederhornpress.com or call 508-746-8777.
