CEBU Cycling Team Philippines put up an impressive performance and finished third in the 5-stage 2015 Tour de Siak in Indonesia yesterday.

Out of 15 qualified teams, the Philippine team clocked a total of 37 hours, 3 minutes and 52 seconds, the same time as second-placer Teranganu-Malaysia. National Sport Council of Malaysia reigned supreme with a time of 37:00:56.

The Cebu team posted respectable results in the general classification. Rey Nelson Martin finished fourth, Ronnel Hualda settled for 12th, John Meir came in 14th, Elmer Navarro finished 17th and Marcelo Felipe placed 19th.

They placed 2nd in the team classification after 2 stages, but mechanical problems in the third stage dropped them into the third spot.

The team earned praises from organizers and other teams which offered the Pinoy riders a slot in next month’s Tour of Jelajah.

The team is coached by Edz Calitis Hualda and managed by Urgel Ramesis.
