Officiating basketball is a hard job. Sitting up in an ivory tower and pointing out missed calls isn’t a noble pursuit. Referees are just human beings doing their best as a fast-paced game full of 50-50 situations plays out.
On the other hand, all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
So I’m speaking up about the blatant travel Carmelo Anthony got away with last night. That’s what, six, seven steps? Just a causal stroll from the half-court stripe to the three-point line without the inconvenience of dribbling.
Despite re-arranging his feet to get in optimal shooting rhythm, the Knicks forward’s attempt clanged off the rim.
Anthony’s walkabout was — somehow — less egregious than Corey Brewer’s nine-step effort last season.
