Blossoming

I had been looking forward to this session for over a month. It was my first senior session of the year, so that makes it significant. It is also one of my special promotional sessions I do for seniors; a 3 season shoot. This means the client picks 3 out of 4 of her (or his) favorite seasons and we do a location session for each season. Then this client decided that her first session would be spring and she wanted apple blossoms. My first thought was MSU. I took a few drive bys to check out the flowers on campus and although they were pretty I thought we could find more apple blossoms. Then it came to me. The best place to find significant amounts of apple blossoms would be at an orchard. I decided to pass along the idea of shooting at Uncle John's Cider Mill to my clients. They loved it!!! Then we had to wait, because the flowers weren't actually out yet. So I waited and watched. I have quite a few apple trees on my property and I diligently watched them start to bloom. Then they got blossoms. It was Sunday and our session was scheduled for late Friday. I watched the weather, saw the thunderstorms and windy forecasts show up. I thought that as long as it didn't frost we'd be okay. As much as I worried about the perfect amount of blossoms there were still quite a few still on the trees and I thought with this orchard being 30 miles north, we'd be okay.

And we were.

Despite a chilly, cloudy day we had a wonderful shoot.

Here are some of my favorites:

What a great way to start the season off; a beautiful location and client!
