One child drowns, another still missing in Cebu City’s upland village of Bonbon

A child of still undetermined age and gender was reported to have died while another remained missing in an apparent drowning incident in Sitio Biasong, Barangay Bonbon, Cebu City.

Police Officer 2 Reynaldo Labating, desk officer of the Mabolo Police Station, said they received a call from Police Officer 1 Junel Rabago, a member of the Mabolo police detailed in Bonbon, at around 10 p.m. to report that two children had gone missing and were believed to have drowned in a river in Biasong.

Rabago then asked that homicide investigators be sent to the area by the Mabolo police, which has jurisdiction over Barangay Bonbon.

Labating however said there was no other details about the incident, except that the two still unidentified children were first reported missing before one of them was found dead.

Chief Inspector Wildemar Tiu, chief of the Mabolo police, affirmed in a separate tex message that the two children were reported to have drowned in a river.

He said they have coordinated with the barangay officials of Bonbon for the search and rescue operation.
