Planted in 2015--we went as visitors and were pleased with casual friendliness and solid preaching

OK, so this is not a snazzy, fancy, decked out, fog machine, special effects congregation like some out there. What matters is that it's friendly, casual, and the pastor preaches the Word clearly and specifically (no vague motivational speeches, but actual delving into Scripture, which is what some of us want and need and value.) So, we visited April 24, 2016 in our search for a church close to home after our previous church relocated farther west. Several members approached us and chatted after service, which is part of the welcoming feel. This small congregation (probably fewer than 40 people, I didn't count) is multicultural. The pastor is Hispanic and youngisth (mid to late 30's?). There was no worship leader at this time, so there was praise and worship music with lyrics on a screen. Everyone in the sanctuary felt free to sing along and raise arms and praise. Prayer and tithe/offerings was taken. The sermon followed. Right now, he's doing the epistle of James. Today's sermon was on not having partiality in the Kingdom, but loving ALL, treating all equally, and caring for each other in the way Jesus cared for folks. (James chapter 2). The sermon was less than an hour. You don't need to bring a Bible (we did), as the verses are put up on the screen and were easy to read. (ESV version.)Fellowship followed with snacks. Friendly, easygoing, warm, and children played ball outside.I'd recommend this for true, solid preaching, egalitarian friendliness, a multicultural make-up, and the possibility of growth and service. (Clearly, we should pray they get folks who can fill ministry positions.)We plan to return. Right now, they meet at North Miami Beach High School's auditorium. Parking was on the east side of the school (all other gates were locked). This is the school right behind 163rd Street Mall. I think this little congregation has a lot of potential. North Miami Beach really needs this sort of "vibe" and focus and community-outreach and deep-word-connected teaching. Updated July 30, 2016: We are still attending this small congregation, still meeting at the North Miami Beach High School auditorium at 11am on Sundays, still casual and friendly. I do believe the pastors have a vision and were called here to North Miami Beach. Visit us! Say hi to me if you see me. :D
