From the Washington (evening) Rotary

The Rotary Club of Washington held its regular weekly meeting Thursday, July 14, at the Washington Yacht & Country Club.

Following a social period in the Upper Deck, overlooking Broad Creek, members assembled in the Pamlico Room.

President David McLawhorn called the meeting to order, after which the Pledge of Allegiance was recited, “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” was sung, and an invocation was offered.

After the meal President McLawhorn called upon Melissa Jarvis, President-Elect for 2017-18, who was the program chairperson for the meeting.

Ms. Jarvis introduced Lieutenant Kelly J. Cox, of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.  Lt. Cox, a part of the command structure, presented an interesting and informative program, one listened to quite attentively by those present.

Lt. Cox brought information and personal insights into and about many facets of the Sheriff’s office operations, and how assets are allocated in the most results-and-costs effective manner.  His professionalism bespoke his many years of experience and commitment to serving the citizens of Beaufort County in law enforcement, and all that such entails.

President McLawhorn, on behalf of the entire Club, thanked Lt. Cox for his outstanding presentation, and for his exemplary service.  He presented Lt. Cox with the “highly coveted” Rotary pen.

The meeting adjourned following recitation of Rotary’s Four-Way Test.
