A terror attack at Istanbul‘s Ataturk Airport on Tuesday has left 41 people dead and hundreds injured. Today, the airport resumed operation despite the shattered glass and blood still visible to passengers after the suicide bombing.

BBC News reports:

Three attackers arrived in a taxi and began firing at the terminal entrance late on Tuesday. They blew themselves up after police fired back.

PM Binali Yildirim said early signs pointed to so-called Islamic State.

However, no-one has so far admitted carrying out the attack.

Turkey has declared Wednesday a day of national mourning.

Turkish investigators are examining CCTV footage, witness statements and mobile phone video recorded by terrified passengers to try to determine the identity of the attackers.

Local news reports that the bombers appear to be foreign nationals but that detail has yet to be confirmed. In the wake of the blast, adding to the death and injury toll is news that over 100 people were still hospitalized although many are being released throughout the day.

According to the BBC, no Americans were killed in the blast but 23 Turkish nationals were counted among the dead. There were five Saudi nationals among the dead as well. No group has stepped forward to claim responsibility for the attack.

A video report of the Istanbul bombing appears below. A warning: the images might be disturbing to some.
