Barefoot Books will be closing its Concord store next month, cofounder and CEO Nancy Traversy has announced.

“After five very fun and rewarding years of sharing stories in Concord, we have decided to move on to our next exciting Barefoot Books chapter and will be closing down our Studio on Friday, July 24, 2015,” she said in a notice posted on the Barefoot Books Facebook page.

The Concord Toy Shop is moving into the Barefoot Books space.

Traversy told The Concord Journal she needed a larger space and also wished to focus on other priorities, including working with men and women “ambassadors” who work at home and helping people grow their businesses.

“Our studio is a small part of our overall business and we’re really focused on our core business now,” she said. “It’s been a wonderful five years but we need a different space.”

“The good news is that Concord's iconic and very special Toy Shop has found a new home at 89 Thoreau Street and will carry on a much-loved and important 73-year old tradition,” she said in her Facebook post. “We wish David Hesel (owner of The Toy Shop) and his team the very best of success.”

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone in our Concord Studio community - the families and teachers who have supported us over the past five years; the many talented storytellers, musicians, artists and other contributors who have brought our stories to life; and our fabulous Studio team who have helped to make Barefoot such a vibrant and welcoming place to visit,” she added.

Traversy invited clients to keep in touch with news and developments from Barefoot Books on its social media channels and website, www.barefootbooks.com, and to continue buying books and gifts from its community of ambassadors.
