Nearly three days after the tragedy, the survivors of the ill-fated MB Kim Nirvaba-B went home to Pilar Island, Camotes Cebu on board a BRP Batanes vessel Sunday morning.

Forty-five of their families and friends who died in last Thursday noon’s accident traveled with them in white caskets.

Pilar Mayor Jesus Jet Fernandez said they are the first batch of survivors who arrived in their town since the accident last July 2. An emotional reunion between the victims and the families occurred after the vessel reached the Pilar port area at 2:30 p.m.

A mass prayer will be held Sunday afternoon.
