USA Wins the 2015 Women’s World Cup
On Sunday, the United States defeated Japan 5-2 to win a third World Cup title in front of 53,300 spectators at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada. Preliminary numbers indicate the final was seen on TV by more than 25 million viewers, which would make it the most-watched soccer match in U.S. television history. Led by midfielder Carli Lloyd’s three goals, the game also ended up as the highest-scoring final in the Women's World Cup since the competition began back in 1991. This year’s tournament featured 52 games played by 24 teams over four weeks in six Canadian cities.
