WHAT could be any more perfect to complement the tropical weather with than a glass of fine wine?

Bibendum Wines, Cebu’s premier wine shop, is bringing in wines from Portuguese winery Quinta da Alorna, in light of the visit of their export manager, Madalena Biancard.

Owned for five generations by the Lopo de Carvalho family, Quinta da Alorna was launched in 1723 when D. Pedro de Almeida, First Marquis of Alorna, named the estate after he conquered Alorna Fort in India.

Quinta da Alorna is known not only for wines of high quality but also for the splendor of the whole estate. With a total area of 2,800 hectares located in the center of Portugal, Quinta da Alorna has been diversifying its business not just in terms of producing exquisite wine, but also by upholding principles of sustainability, social responsibility, and environmental conservation.

With 220 hectares of vineyards, Quinta da Alorna wines are made from a wide selection of the best grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Chardonnay, Verdelho, and Arinto.

Using the most recent vinification technology, Quinta da Alorna creates wines with the quality, excellence, and competitiveness that meet the standards of national and international markets. Producing about 1.85 million liters of wine every year, exports are now responsible for 50 percent of the turnover.

Launched in 2012, and being the go-to wine shop for the best wine selections here in Cebu since, Bibendum maintains their mission to provide top quality wines from across the globe by bringing in quality Quinta da Alorna wines that range from P290 to P1,190, which includes grape varieties such as Verdelho, Touriga Nacional, and Chardonnay Reserva.

The Marquesa de Alorna Grande Reserva Tinto 2011, described by Roger Voss as “powerful, hugely dense, and brooding,” has been given 93 points by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, and is a bargain at P1,190 only.

At Bibendum Wines, you can try the wine prior to purchasing with their enomatic machine, which contains eight different kinds of wine. The first taste is free, and the succeeding tasting portions are at a minimal amount.

Drop by Bibendum Wines soon to grab a bottle or two of some fine Portuguese wine from the Quinta da Alorna estate.

*Bibendum Wines is located at the ground floor of the MLD Building, next to Café Georg in Banilad, Cebu City.
