The homicide of a man whose body was found last year in a Leavenworth hotel room remains unsolved, a police spokesman said.

"We're hoping for some additional information from the public on it," said Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

He said police have followed up on all of the leads they have in the investigation of the death of Robert G. Lynch Jr.

Without any additional information, investigators are in a holding pattern, Nicodemus said.

Lynch, 53, was found dead May 22, 2014, in a room at Days Inn, 3211 S. Fourth St.

Police have never released the official cause of death, but the case has been treated as a homicide.

"It was pretty obvious that there was foul play involved," Nicodemus said.

A police report indicated a blunt object was the murder weapon.

Nicodemus said police have not identified a suspect in the case.

Police believe Lynch died sometime between 6 p.m. May 21, 2014, and 11:20 a.m. the next day, which is when his body was discovered.

Lynch was from Leavenworth and had been staying at the hotel while transitioning from one residence to another, Nicodemus said.

Authorities initially could not locate Lynch's pickup, but the vehicle was found abandoned May 23, 2014, in the 100 block of South 17th Street.

The truck was found near a church. A member of the church reportedly thought the vehicle had a breakdown and contacted police.

Nicodemus would not comment on how investigators believe the truck ended up at that location.
