After ''incredibly stressful'' experiences during the recent South Dunedin floods, community members celebrated being together again, at a fundraising concert last night.
Organiser Paul Allen said the ''Rise Above: South Dunedin Benefit Concert'' had been a ''really positive'' success, with about 150 people attending, and $1123 raised for the Mayoral Relief Fund to support those affected by the flooding.
Mr Allen had been delighted by the way a series of musicians from throughout the city, including Martin Phillips, of The Chills, and others, including Dave Coleclough, Robyn Johnston and Steve King, had rallied round to back the community cause at the concert, at the King's and Queen's Performing Arts Centre.
Some South Dunedin people had still been unable to return to their homes and others had been living in wet, damaged houses, but the community had shown a strong and caring spirit, and the concert had been a ''fantastic'' event, he said.
