Non-Muslim kids wouldn’t eat before, but they love Muslim food! Are your eyes welling up yet?
Mariam Ali (who couldn’t be bothered to prepare a halal lunch for her children) said she wants to see the pilot program extend into next year and expand to other schools in the area.

Crawford High School in City Heights has been piloting a new lunch menu to reach out to its Muslim students. Once a week, students can pick up a special halal meal.

Walk the halls of Crawford High School and you’ll see City Heights in miniature. The neighborhood is home to immigrants from Mexico, Southeast Asia and East Africa.
Several years ago, a group of refugee moms involved with the City Heights nonprofit Mid-City CAN began telling San Diego Unified’s Foodservices Director Gary Petill their kids weren’t eating lunch.
“All students here eat for free, so you have to ask yourself, why weren’t they eating with us before?” Petill said.
Schools qualify for universal free lunches if more than 40 percent of their students come from families that qualify for other kinds of federal assistance.
The students weren’t eating because the food wasn’t halal. Muslims follow religious rules similar to Kosher dietary laws for meat and dairy.
What do the Jews have to do with any of this??
So earlier this semester, Crawford began offering a halal chicken bowl twice a week.
“It’s Mary’s Free Range, vegetarian-fed, antibiotic-free, hormone-free, air-chilled organic chicken that you’d find in Whole Foods,” Petill said.
He said the pilot program was an easy sell to educators.
“If students are eating, they can learn. If they don’t eat, they can’t learn,” Petill said.
“We really try to work with the communities to best fit the food choices that they have, because we want students to eat,” Petill added. “We have a very large Hispanic population so we want to have maybe ‘Taco Tuesday’ or serve a bean and cheese burrito, or in a community with an Asian community, an Asian chicken bowl.”
Petill said since the cafeteria began serving the new chili lime chicken bowl, 300 students who previously didn’t eat school lunches are lining up at the cafeteria. The increased participation covers the few extra cents each organic drumstick costs, Petill said.
And some of the students getting in line aren’t even Muslim. Seventeen-year-old Rosa Duarte, 17, joined her Muslim friends in student-run campaign for the halal lunches.
“I normally will not eat at school because the food options were not good,” Duarte said. “But with the halal chicken drumstick bowl, I actually am eating at school and I have more energy to go through the day and then go to my sports afterwards.”

Halal is nothing like Kosher……it is inhumane slaughter; it is EXTORTION —- more $$ to label, to handle, to package, it’s just another way to weaken the U.S. and to get more muslim customs in so when they want sharia law they will have an argument — we already have this: halal and our mosques (which preach death to America right here in our own country)…………this islam is a scourge and we need to rid our country and the world of it

where can I get a good hamburger in Saudi Arabia Qatar/Yemen/gaza/Libya/Syria/Iraq etc ?while the west fights for their freedom/tries to bring clean water &hygiene to their people/ tries to educate their children tries to vaccinate against disease /tries to free their women/ etc etc etc…in short, tries to lift them out of bronze age superstition and lift them out of self imposed oppression into the MODERN world they want halal food for everyone!…Welfare, housing, freedom ,western medicine, a life free of fear does not seem to be enough for them. That term was used in the french bashing crisis because France opposed the 2nd war on iraq (although France had joined on the attack on afghanistan after 9/11 mind you – France only considered that attacking iraq had nothing to do with it and was going to unleash worst).

Yes, there are muslims who are good people because I know some, BUT, they are too few to even mention. I know ,Britain is just a shadow of her former self and her politicians morally reprehensible;Socialism damaged Britain beyond repair,financially,socially,culturally and morally.Since the left allied itself to Islam Britain is quite quickly becoming dhimmi;not the people but the establishment. 1. O you who believe! Fulfill (your) obligations. Lawful to you (for food) are all the beasts of cattle except that which will be announced to you (herein), game (also) being unlawful when you assume Ihram for Hajj or ‘Umrah (pilgrimage). Verily, Allah commands that which He wills.
2. O you who believe! Violate not the sanctity of the Symbols of Allah, nor of the Sacred Month, nor of the animals brought for sacrifice, nor the garlanded people or animals, etc. [Marked by the garlands on their necks made from the outer part of the tree-stems (of Makkah) for their security], nor the people coming to the Sacred House (Makkah), seeking the bounty and good pleasure of their Lord. But when you finish the Ihram (of Hajj or ‘Umrah), you may hunt, and let not the hatred of some people in (once) stopping you from Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Makkah) lead you to transgression (and hostility on your part). Help you one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Severe in punishment.
3. Forbidden to you (for food) are: Al-Maytatah (the dead animals – cattle-beast not slaughtered), blood, the flesh of swine, and the meat of that which has been slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allah, or has been slaughtered for idols, etc., or on which Allah’s Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering, and that which has been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by the goring of horns – and that which has been (partly) eaten by a wild animal – unless you are able to slaughter it (before its death) – and that which is sacrificed (slaughtered) on An-Nusub (stone altars). (Forbidden) also is to use arrows seeking luck or decision, (all) that is Fisqun (disobedience of Allah and sin). This day, those who disbelieved have given up all hope of your religion, so fear them not, but fear Me. This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. But as for him who is forced by severe hunger, with no inclination to sin (such can eat these above-mentioned meats), then surely, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
4. They ask you (O Muhammad ) what is lawful for them (as food ). Say: “Lawful unto you are At-Tayyibat [all kind of Halal (lawful-good) foods which Allah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables and fruits, etc.)]. And those beasts and birds of prey which you have trained as hounds, training and teaching them (to catch) in the manner as directed to you by Allah; so eat of what they catch for you, but pronounce the Name of Allah over it, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Swift in reckoning.”
5. Made lawful to you this day are At-Tayyibat [all kinds of Halal (lawful) foods, which Allah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, etc., milk products, fats, vegetables and fruits, etc.). The food (slaughtered cattle, eatable animals, etc.) of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) is lawful to you and yours is lawful to them. (Lawful to you in marriage) are chaste women from the believers and chaste women from those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) before your time, when you have given their due Mahr (bridal money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage), desiring chastity (i.e. taking them in legal wedlock) not committing illegal sexual intercourse, nor taking them as girl-friends. And whosoever disbelieves in the Oneness of Allah and in all the other Articles of Faith [i.e. His (Allah’s), Angels, His Holy Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)], then fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.

Actually, Hallal is no different than Kosher in its actually physical practice of killing a animal by slitting its neck so that the blood is drained properly. According to Pamela Geller, the only difference between Kosher slaughter and Halal slaughter is the prayer said before the slaughter. A Jewish prayer given before a Kosher slaughter and a Muslim prayer given before a Halal slaughter. Even this is not entirely true, because according to Halal slaughter, the prayer is also acceptable if it be Jewish. Now Catholic/Protestant supposedly can eat anything anyway, so by default they can also eat Halal and Kosher food. Pamela Geller’s only objection to Halal chicken is that it is a meat “sacrificed to idols”, and yet, it could be argued that since Muslims sacrificed the animal to the “God of Abraham” that it would be acceptable also to Jews and Christians who also worship the “God of Abraham”. Yes, Muslims eat chicken, so? There is nothing in the Christian or Jewish religion forbidding the eating of chicken. So stop worrying about jihadist halal chickens please.. they are not a threat! Christians and Jews are not forbidden to eat halal chicken, just as Muslims and Christians are not forbidden to eat kosher chicken!

actually Halal does differ from Kosher in that they kill the animal in front of other animals and let it die slowly stressing out the others as well…..all the toxins released when an animal is under stress is not good for you — that’s why we slaughter our animals humanely — my guess is eating all those toxins in their meat adds to their insanity — I didn’t say anything about chickens — but whatever animal or human they deal with they do it with the utmost cruelty — God Bless America — no Sharia Law in America –

The parents who have their kids enrolled in school should be paying their ‘fair share’ (liberals love to say ‘fair share’) of the cost.
If a school has 600 kids, that means there are 600 shares.
If YOU have 3 kids in that school, you PAY 3 shares.
If you have 1 kid in that school, you PAY one share.
If it cost $1,000,000 to fund the school for one year, you divide the $1,000,000 by the 600 kids to find out what ONE SHARE costs.
That means for EACH kid you have enrolled, you must pay $1,666.
If you have ONE kid, you pay $1,666
If you have 4 kids enrolled in that school, you, as the parent, pay 4 X $1,666, or $6,664 for the year.

You are right, it is at best questionable that “you study better when you eat”. The experience of me and many others rather is that we get a 2 o’clock sleepy dip after lunch.
Any way, soon the test will come, from 17th of june there is Ramadan! And the Muslim students will not only not eat, but also not drink, for perhaps 14 hours per day. And they will rise an hour before dawn to drink and eat in preparation for the whole day. Will this not have a bad influence on their studying performance?! And how does the school feel about that then?

Technically speaking according to what I’ve read, the human body is more alert when it’s hungry. That doesn’t mean famished, but hunger is just a signal that indicates that you should find something to eat in the next day or so. And it matters a lot what you do eat and what kind of activities you do. School is mostly sedentary so you’re better off with a light breakfast and some fruit…especially if you’re going to take a test. For afternoon class, if you’re going to eat a sandwich,,,just eat half a sandwich. Don’t bother with the chips or the pastries or the soft drinks. Sugars have a tendency to trash your metabolism. The three square meals a day routine wasn’t what we were designed for. We were designed more to eat as you go. Kind of like that Kung Fu T.V. show where he is eating roots and berries, and fruit and such. Meat, you don’t really need meat to survive. Meat breaks down into amino acids and according to the biology and physiology I studied there are or were 12 essential amino acids that the human body cannot synthesisze by means of anabolism in the Liver. Technically the number is down to 9 essential amino acids now. So the school lunch thing is only really appropiate if you have students that are not getting well fed at home. For most normal kids it isn’t a problem becaues they get at least one good meal a day. The athletes burn a few more calories. School is a political thing. It’s taxpayer this and taxpayer that. And in the end, the purpose of the school is to service the community.

If children weren’t eating the non halal choices even though they were

choices being provided rather than the children wanting halal food.
I don’t personally have a problem with schools providing Halal as one of the choices as long as they also provide Kosher and any other religious food requirements for the other religions represented at that school. I see no reason why one religion should be accommodated and not the others.
If they can’t accommodate all the different religious requirements they should accommodate non of them and food should be of a good nutritional standard and look appetising and what the children would want to eat.

muslims can have their schools if they want to pay for them and charge students tuition, just as Christian schools do. However, the muslim schools are paid for by us, the taxpayers. Along with everything else muslims are, we can add FREELOADER to the list. I would, however, prefer muslim children to be in their own schools (although they should pay for it themselves) rather than be in public school classrooms corrupting our children. I keep advocating for home school or Christian school for American children, but I know so many parents either can’t afford private school or are unwilling to do anything to protect their children from this plague.

I see no problem, as long as there are kosher meals served, and Hindu approved meals served, Sikh approved meals served, Rastafarian approved meals served (hash/marijuana brownies for dessert) bacon cheeseburgers, whatever for whoever.

It’s a “perfect storm” for Islam today in the West.
We are, correctly so, caught up in human rights observance, and along comes an ideology, that couldn’t give a damn about YOUR rights, but uses victimhood to progress and impose it’s Sharia rights, via the salami system.

That’s how they are conquering us, with very little resistance.
A “perfect storm” is how I describe it.
Our kids in school are being taught by progressives, who just want to get along, and deny that Islam is very different, and very dangerous.
It takes a very brave kid in the school system to stand up and say, “if you’re going to accommodate him, what about me”

Some one should get in touch with the Hollywood stars that petition and scream for PETA.
See if they have the set needed to publicly challenge the mooslums torture like they do for non violent farmers over beef-pork-chicken etc.
Let their hidden camera crews find out how sanitary,cruel and stupid halal really is. I know that animals are slaughtered for food but it is supposedly done in the most humane way possible not by having some quack mutter in tongues while sawing through your throat with a dull knife lie they do for captive non believers already.
Let PETA add Halal to their list of boycotts and go mainstream media public if they dare.
As for halal – I already boycott any place supporting cruelty to dumb animals through halal,except mooslums of course, but you have to make sure the franchise’s head office and stock holders know that you are boycotting and why for it to do any good.. Pam, you are right on! This is just the start of Muslim world domination in America. I was raised in a Kosher household and brought my lunch to school with me, which many other kids did, Jews and non-Jews alike! We NEVER demanded Kosher food. The thought never entered our minds. I am a native California girl – we have to fight to stop this! Pam, do you have plans to come to Southern California??

Lots of people who live in Sharia controlled zones must live under some form of fear, depending how bad Sharia has grown in the area.
Lots of people have no idea what it would be like to live under Islam control, it would not be pleasant.
If one does a detailed research into WW1 and WW2, Serbian War 1912, Armenian Genocide, Serbian war 1992 to 1995, besides the many things through history. You you will find Islam has it’s fingers in the many pies and never taking the blame.

Knight, living in that manner is merely existing. And the proof is that coercion is necessary to convert. Islam does itself no favors by it’s own behavior. Merely another crystal clear example of tyranny to gain control. The problem with totalitarian control is loss of spirit, productivity, creativity, intelligence and ultimately the host dies. Too many ticks on a host cause it’s death.

Close the camps when they are discovered, yes indeed. Allow Sharia law over ours…no. No precedence. Murder for any reason doesn’t change it. There is a line between religion and cult. It is a sin for Christians to eat food dedicated to other gods. This violates the religious freedom of all non-muslim students who find it repulsive or impossible to eat. It’s a double standard and we are FOOLS if we continue to let this heresy spread. It’s clearly a challenge to our legal system as it is the government establishing one religion over all the others and forcing it into public schools where all other religion’s mandates are forbidden.

STL schools aren’t allowed to have bone-in chicken. Lunch sales would go thru the roof just because it wasn’t a nugget, patty, or any other assorted ‘parts is parts’ chicken.
And what’s with the special menu? Menus are published ahead of time. Don’t like it? Pack your own!
