Despite the strict security imposed inside the New Bilibid Prison, inmates still found means to peddle illegal drugs and smuggle prohibited items.

Authorities discovered this after the Northern Police District conducted a buy-bust operation inside the medium security compound of the national penitentiary where they managed to buy illegal drugs from five inmates.

Upon confirmation, members of the Philippine National Police-National Capital Region Police Office locked down the prison at 4:10 p.m. on Thursday and conducted an “Oplan Galugad.”
