Talisay councilman faces raps for hitting bystander

A BARANGAY councilman landed in jail for accidentally hitting a pedestrian at a road in Barangay Tulay, Minglanilla town at 8 pm last Sunday.

PO2 Nicky Carlo Plarisan of the Minglanilla police precinct said the 28-year-old victim identified as Florante Perolina, a resident of Barangay Tungkop, Minglanilla town was walking in the area when he was hit by 52-year-old barangay councilman Renerio Solis of Barangay Pook, Talisay City.

Solis is said to be drunk at the time and tried to leave the area after hitting Perolino only to be chased by motorcycle for hire (habal-habal) drivers at Tungkop.

A policeman from Naga City took Solis and brought him to the Minglanilla police precinct where Solis admitted to be drunk at the time of the accident.

Perolino died due to severe head injuries while his relatives said they will file a case against Solis.
