Bulbul Chowdhury

Ekushey Padak-winning fiction writer Bulbul Chowdhury died at the age of 73 in his residence on Pyaridas road in the capital Saturday afternoon.

The writer’s son AR Rafi Chowdhury said, ‘My father passed away at home on Pyaridas road at 5:50pm.’

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Shingtola Mosque at 9:00am on Sunday and his body will be taken to the Bangla Academy, he said.

He is survived by his wife and three sons.

Born on August 16, 1948, at Dakshinbag in Gazipur, Bulbul Chowdhury was suffering from cancer.

For his contribution to Bangla literature, Bulbul received the Bangla Academy Literary Award, the Humayun Qadir Smriti Purashkar, the Jasimuddin Smriti Puraskar and some others.

Among his notable works Tuka Kahini, Machher Raat, Aparup Bil Jhil Nodi, Tiyaser Lekhon, Jibaner Ankibnuki, Atoler Kathakatha, Prachin Gitikar Golpo, etc.
