SXSW 2020
Cultural Revival: Philippine Script and Tattooing
Description:
There are over 100 million Filipinos in the world, and less than ten traditional tattoo practitioners. These same Filipinos lost their indigenous writing system in the 19th century with only one tribe left still writing. Two Filipino-Americans, Lane Wilcken, and Kristian Kabuay are at the forefront of the revival.
