Chuckie Egg - A classic eggy game gets a PC Remake by Langford Productions.

It's incredible to think that Chuckie Egg was a game released years ago in 1983 as a game that not only appeared on the BBC Micro, but a whole string of other systems such as the Amstrad CPC, Amiga, C64 and even the ZX Spectrum. Well fast forward to today and Langford Productions who was behind the wicked retro inspired Shooter Project ZX, and the remakes of classic games such as Jumping Jack, The Hunch or even Psst, has announced the release of a modernised version of Chuckie Egg as a special gift to you all before Christmas.

In this game you play as Hen-House Harry who must collect twelve eggs in each level before the timer runs out. In addition there are piles of seed which may be collected to increase points and stop the countdown timer for a while, but will otherwise be eaten by hens that patrol the level, causing them to pause, if the hens are touched or you fall it's a loss of life. Finally with the completion of the levels, the game takes on an even harder turn as the little hens are not the only thing you'll need to deal with.

And that's just a small snippet of the gameplay explained above, but in regards to this remake, Richard Langford has told us, hopefully his modernised remake of Chuckie Egg captures the spirit of the original, with many of the original screen layouts included as well as a ZX Spectrum graphics setting. For those who want that little bit extra, he has also added a few more screen lay outs and a new bonus mode " Chuckie Egg in the Dark ".
